The SPLC Union was certified in 2019 after employees voted in an NLRB election 145 – 42 to be represented by WBNG. In 2021, SPLC celebrated 50 years of landmark legal cases to ensure the promise of the civil rights movement became a reality for all. The first collective bargaining agreement was signed in July 2022. In addition to the attorneys, the unit includes paralegals and others in the legal department, as well as employees in finance and administration, communications, development, IT, and policy departments, and the Civil Rights Memorial Center staff.
