John E. McIntyre

John E. McIntyre worked for six and a half years on the copy desk at The Cincinnati Enquirer before coming to The Baltimore Sun in 1986. From 1995 to 2009, he was in charge of the paper’s copy desk; as an administrator, he tried to answer every applicant’s inquiry. He has taught editing at Loyola University Maryland since 1995 and was for four years the president of the American Copy Editors Society.

John’s faith that something would turn up was finally justified. At the end of March 2010, 11 months after leaving The Sun, he accepted an invitation from editor Monty Cook to return as night content production manager, overseeing the production of the newspaper and Web site in the evening.
